Posted by u/[Deleted Account] - 1 vote and 2 comments The junction box has what look like two screw holes and the bracket comes with two screws that look like you just slot them into the holes, or into the tracks, and tighten them down when the other screws (with the brown tops) are aligned the way you want them so that the fixture will be properly aligned.Depending on the junction box, you may not be able to remove it without going into the attic, some wood stud ones screw from the attic side, some screw from inside the box. if you can remove it and they left some slack, you should be able to pull it down without accessing the attic. Then run a 2 wire cable back to the light box or fan box as needed. To control light and fan separately using 3 way switches, two 3 wire runs between the switches are needed. When the 3 wire cabling goes into the fan box and connections are made there, you have to account for the extra wire ends entering the box which in turn may need a bigger .
As for mounting a box to a lamp-post, attach it with a couple of screws, drill a hole for the wire access, and either run conduit up to that hole inside the lamppost to run wires in, or use a cable clamp in the back of the box and run cable inside the lamp-post to a junction box with another cable clamp where you transition to wires in conduit . If you are just removing the light you don't need to make any changes in the overfilled junction box. You would remove the cable to the light and bring it into the wafer junction box.
