I come from an engineering and machining background so I have a lot going for me there, but routers and the diy part with respect to cnc stuff is very new. My current idea that I have been building upon is a fixed gantry router with about 24" X, 18" Y, and 6" of Z. I would like it to be as rigid as possible without breaking the bank.

I also have a CNC Gang Lathe, a 9x49 Bridgeport mill, a PM45 mill and 12" swing manual lathe, as well as belt grinders, compressed air, blast cabinet, TIG welder and a host of other tools, including full woodworking tools to help me with my build.
