To build the bracket, we cut a long 1×2″ pine board for the back of each bracket and then several smaller 1×3″ pieces for the spokes. Upgrading to a larger bed meant we needed to swap our big bedside tables out for something smaller. So we whipped up this super simple plan for DIY nightstands that *perfectly* fit the space. They require only one material (butcher block counters!) and minimal cuts, meaning it’s a building project anyone can do. Lastly, we went around and screwed in our eye hooks.We wanted eye screws that stuck out from the wall enough but weren’t too enormous. The 3″ eye hooks were a good find because the visually disappear, but are long enough to separate the trellis from the wall.
So even when their youngest son repeatedly bangs it with a metal car, the dings blend right in. I also love that the end chairs are light wood, the side chairs are deep red, and the table is medium wood. Nothing’s too fussy, and it oozes informal charm. Something that makes their house even more stunning in person are the light fixtures. Not only do side gigs like this help us provide for our family, they’re some of the most exciting work that we get to do (you know when we’re not juggling house projects, blog posts, book stuff, and playing with The Bean and The Burgs).

We’re looking for a desk and office storage for our new-to-us house and haven’t had any luck yet, although sadly we live at least a 7 hour drive from the nearest Ikea :(Annnnnd I got my husband to look at desks online and tell me if he saw anything he liked, he comes up with a 0 option..so we continue our search. Coincidentally (yes, this was a very weird coincidence) the width of each of our rolls was 20.5 inches too. So one option we had was to run the wallpaper horizontally around the room.
