For Hawk - gauge problems on a 2005 are probably the stepper motors in the instrument cluster, not the SJB. The stepper motor problem is unique to 2005's, since a different motor was used in later models. I am in desperate need of a company or even just a person who is familiar with repairing the smart junction box from a 2005 Mustang GT Premium. If anybody knows of a service like this I would greatly appreciate the contact info.

I am looking at getting an 05 mustang v6 for trade. They tell me it runs and drives great, but none of the lights or radio works because it needs a new smart junction box. Does . Why Ford would design the SJB so that we couldn't remove/replace relays is beyond me but it is what it is. Getting a SJB from the junkyard is iffy since the junkyard unit may be defective as well. Since all the locks are doing/not doing the same thing I don't believe the problem is with an individual lock. In doing some reading on the internet, I have seen this kind of problem referred to a smart junction box (SJB . I have a relay or two clicking under the dash - probably the accessory relays in the Smart Junction Box (SJB). I checked fuse 21 in the SJB and it's good, but the PMC controls the ground for the starter relay and I'm sure that's why it won't start. It looks like I need to check fuse 40, 43 and 49 in the BEC first since they supply power to the PCM. If the power window amperage does not change correctly the Smart Junction Box (Interior Fuse Panel) has to be replaced and a jumper harness installed inside of the LF door. I looked through the wiring diagrams for my 2005 CVPI and yes there is a fuse for the heated O2 sensor. On the 2005 it is located in the Battery Junction Box, fuse number F1.21 and it is 15 amp rated. Hope this helps. Mike

Make sure the junction box(es)/fuse panel(s) is accessible without turning on the interior lights or the underhood lights. Drive the vehicle at least 5 minutes and over 48 km/h (30 mph) to turn on and activate the vehicle systems. Allow the vehicle to sit with the key off for at least 40 minutes to allow the modules to time out/power down.
